The Cragwood is a typically gorgeous Lake district country house suitable for both large weddings and ‘just us’ elopement style cermonies
The Lake district has so many lovely venues for romantic getaways and I was delighted to be asked to make a record of the day for Mark and Kasmira.
As a professional wedding photographer based in The Lake District I get to cover many types of weddings.
Large or small I always feel honoured to be witness to couples very special day!
For their secret Lake district wedding Kasmira and Mark decided to drive from their base in Sheffield in an Old Morris Minor.
It took them more than half a day but the slow journey gave them chance to take in some lovely scenery as they travelled along the country roads through Yorkshire, Lancashire and The Lake District.
On the day of their wedding it was just the two of them.
They had arrived the day before but were still keen for their vintage car to be included in the photo story.
So, after I met them at the hotel to say hello they went out for a quick spin around Lake Windermere.
I photographed them on their return and we made a few pre wedding portraits before they made their way to the Pagoda for the wedding ceremony to begin.
The gardens at Cragwood overlook Lake Windermere and a dry day gave us lovely views over to the mountains and fells beyond.
Hotel staff took time off from their normal duties to act as witnesses – they are old hands at this – it happens a lot!
After capturing the formal elements of the wedding we wandered down to the Lake to make some portraits.
I love the intimacy of these wedding photographs and I hope you enjoy them as much as me.
