It was a glorious Summer’s day for Ian and Ruth’s wedding day!
They both live and work in London but chose to be married close to Ruth’s home village in Northumberland.
I started the day at Ruth’s parents home having travelled by car setting off in the early morning.
It was a glorious drive from my lake district base northwards to Hadrian’s wall and then across towards the stunning east coast.
Lake district slate and dry stone walls giving way to Northumbrian red brick and sandstone.
Ruth met me at her parents home where she was getting prepared.
She asked me to make a few photographs of her shoes and wedding dress and as it was such a glorious day I took them outside.
It was also a better option as her nephew was joyfully rampaging around the house in his toy car!
Ruth’s maids were on hand to help her dress and after a few bridal pics I left to meet up with Ian and his groomsmen at Eshott Hall.
The Hall is a wonderful location for weddings and has recently featured in The Daily Telegraph best hotels for weddings!
It rivals some of the best Lake District wedding venues that’s for sure!
Ian was pacing up and down outside in the sunshine when I arrived. He was a little nervous but his best man was on hand to calm his nerves.
The wedding guests were slowly arriving and they gathered inside to wait for Ruth to arrive in the wedding car with her Dad.
I had discovered that Ruth has a wonderful playful nature and charm matched by Ian’s quick sense of humour.
And so I had a lot of fun with them making the just married portraits…….It was the fist time a bride had covered her grooms face with the floral bouquet!
I really enjoyed my day taking wedding photographs away from the lake district, I love to travel….nearly as much as I like to stay close to home….
