Sadie & Rupert at St Lawrence Crosby Ravensworth and Low Wood Windermere.

I first got to meet Sadie and Rupert on theĀ  day of their wedding! We had chatted on the phone to discuss the finer details and Sadie had described how her parent’s farm house was only a field away from the church where the wedding was taking place.

Their village is called Crosby Ravensworth and it is one of the oldest settlements in the lake district – and I discovered that the church and their family home used to be separated by a medieval moat. It was whispered to me that I might see a ghost of a bull if I was lucky! It turned out it had been a long time since there had been a sighting and this particular ghost stayed away for Sadie and Rupert’s special day!

After the service the morning’s rain had increased to a downpour! Luckily there was a brief reprieve once the bridal party arrived at the reception at Low wood bay by Lake Windermere and so we took the opportunity then to make some portraits by the water’s edge!
