Some lovely praise!

I love being a lake district wedding photographer! Yes I know that’s  a cliche but I really do!  And I must say that I enjoy it even more when I get lovely feed back from delighted couples!

Some people describe me as reportage or documentary wedding photographer – I don’t know about that!

What I know is that I like to capture weddings in an artistic,  natural and unobtrusive way, so my couples have wedding photographs that tell the story of the day! ( You can read more about my philosophy and approach to wedding photography here.)

I always follow this approach  regardless of  the size or length of your wedding. Your wedding day is ABOUT YOU not me!

When Sue recently booked me to capture her Kendal wedding to Margaret she wanted to know how I would go about capturing the story of their day, particularly as it was very intimate small wedding, with only 8 guests!

My reply was that in a nutshell I would be their eyes – I wouldn’t interfere or direct ( apart form a few suggestions for some group portraits) and that it would be my pleasure and privilege to be a part of their special day –  small wedding or not!

After I sent them a link to their wedding photographs I was thrilled to receive this email.

Dear Russell

The photos are stunning – we both love them! You are very talented to be able to capture such impromptu moments of joy and laughter, in addition to the more formal posed photos! I imagine this is particularly challenging with just eight people – yet every photo amongst the 175 is a different delight! It was great to be able to leave everything in your capable hands, as your easy charm inspired confidence and allowed all guests to relax, – even those who do not like having their photo taken! Many many thanks on doing such a fine job! Please feel free to pass on anybody’s contact details to me who is maybe thinking of a more “intimate” wedding like ours – we’d both be delighted to recommend you !

Thanks again – All the very best

Sue and Margaret xxx
