The first dance! Why I love this picture!
As a professional wedding photographer I try to limit the amount of weddings I photograph each year to no more than 25. I love what I do but it’s important to stay fresh and I learned a while ago that it’s false economy to take on too much.
I want to be clear headed and full of energy to capture all the emotions at EVERY wedding. When I am not shooting weddings I spend time honing my skills so that I can make the best photographs I can.
Technique as well as keen observation are key to making the images that my clients will treasure. I LOVE this photograph of Matt and Katy’s first dance during their wedding party held at The Swan hotel near windermere in the lake district.
It is full of emotion and love – and movement. The technique used to capture their faces but blur out the background to create the dreamy effect is called Flash and blur ( well that’s what I call it!) – The camera flash captures the initial image and then the lens is left open a little longer to also get the movement!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I would love to hear about your wedding plans – you can contact me here!
