Why I love this picture! Cutting the cake!
I was back at The Lyth Valley Country Inn at the weekend to photograph the wedding nuptials for Louise and Rich.
I had also been with them on Friday when the pair had officially tied the knot with an intimate service at Kendal town hall.
So Saturday was all about celebrating with close friends and family. They received a blessing at Winster church and then afterwards the party got going!
My wedding photography is all about observing and capturing the special moments; the smiles, the laughs, the tears of happiness and everything in between!
I enjoy observing the rhythm of the whole day as it unfolds and being ready to capture the moments of spontaneity that make a great picture!
However I think if you ask most professional wedding photographers they will tell you that there are parts of the day that they look forward to most.
And the moments that I especially enjoy are usually the bride as she arrives to meet her groom, the confetti throwing and expressions of joy straight after the ceremony and the energy and exuberance of the first dance..
I have noticed over the years that the cutting of the cake is often over quickly and tends to be fairly formal. It’s not usually one of the ‘highlights’
So when so many of the guests made the effort to ‘photobomb’ the cake cutting on Saturday I was delighted because I knew it would illustrate what a fantastic party everyone was enjoying.
I love the expressions of sheer joy and fun in this photograph.
